US-led coalition capture senior IS leader in north Syria raid

 US-drove alliance powers say they caught a senior head of the jihadist bunch Islamic State (IS) in a short-term strike in northern Syria.

The man was "an accomplished bomb creator and functional facilitator", an alliance explanation said.

An occupant of al-Humaira, Mohammed Youssef, said the soldiers struck a house on the edge of the town where he accepted uprooted individuals from the city of Aleppo were remaining.

The Washington Post referred to US authorities as saying the caught IS pioneer was Ahmed Kurdi and that he was otherwise called the "wail", or lead representative, of Raqqa.
